General Information
The purpose of the Coordination Center for Animal Husbandry Specialization is to fulfill the requirements in the legal legislation regarding the specialization process of Muş Alparslan University, which was declared a pilot university in the fields of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, within the scope of the "Regional Development-Focused Mission Differentiation and Specialization of Universities" program coordinated by the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education and carried out in coordination with the Presidency of Development, to coordinate and report the studies in this direction and to contribute to regional development with these activities.
The Animal Husbandry Specialization Coordination has an integrated structure established to encourage the development of the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors in the region, to support specialization in these fields, to increase efficiency and to solve the problems in the sector. Within the scope of this program based on differentiation in animal husbandry, the main objectives of the Animal Husbandry Specialization Coordination are to develop large and small domestic animal breeds, increase meat and milk yield, protect animal health in poultry farming and introduce animal products to the industry under the leadership of Muş Alparslan University;
Prioritizing environmental sustainability, encouraging farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices such as organic farming practices,
Supporting them to raise small cattle in a sustainable manner,
Realizing the breeding of more resilient and productive animals,
Taking precautions against diseases common in small cattle and keeping diseases under control,
Introducing local animal products to the industry,
In addition, providing training on care, feeding, reproduction and disease control in small cattle breeding,
Increasing honey production in the region by giving importance to beekeeping,
Improving bee health,
Improving bee products other than honey,
Developing beekeeping infrastructure,
Developing poultry farming activities.
Using plant waste and by-products,
The program in question aims at economic development with steps such as introducing local plant products to the industry, establishing facilities or supporting businesses within the scope of strengthening the regional economy and
Developing marketing strategies to deliver agricultural and animal products produced to wider markets and providing regional branding.
